The relaxed atmosphere, very helpfull staff and excellent surroundings made our short stay very enjoyable.
All staff with whom we came into contact were relaxed, friendly and efficient. Although we didn't use the bar, post dinner service ( Port/ Coffee) was delivered to table very swiftly. The Chef is to be complimented on his creativity and presentation. All his combinations of flavours, within the range of dishes sampled, worked well together. Dining was a good and memorable experience.
Our allocated room was a little 'smaller' than expected but we assume this was the result of being moved further away from the venue of two wedding receptions, during our stay, to offset the effects of any noise overspill. Once four days worth of clothing was unpacked there was not a great deal of room in which to move about however having said that we were away from the room, touring, for most of the daylight hours.
Breakfast was excellent and the cleanliness of the hotel was very good also gardens were superb
The room was smaller than I expected and the bed was not particularly comfortable
The food was one of the highlights-the quality for the price was excellent. Staff were pleasant and helpful and the service in the restaurant was friendly and and efficient
Friendly reception and Good Dinner
Excellent accommodation with ample parking set in parkland some 5 min walk from town centre. Comfortable clean well appointed rooms representing good value for money.Waiter service at breakfast from a quality menu was a real treat.
The absence of a lift could present a real problem for those with disabilities.
Lovely welcome from friendly receptionist. Breakfast was varied and served promptly and hot. Facilities in room good.
We felt the price was too high given that our room turned out to be next to a fan from the kitchens which was loud and wafted kitchen smells into our room in the morning. Decor was nice but a little dated.
The breakfast was excellent. The furnishings were good quality and undamaged
We booked a "superior double room but we did not consider it really a "superior room. It was small and did not even have an armchair. There was a small chair squeezed in the corner. There were a couple of drawers in the dressing table but otherwise no cupboard. The bathroom was also good quality but had only a ?half or 3/4 length bath. When I went to reception to ask why this was considered a "superior room" I was told it was because we had a view out over the garden and not an internal view. I don't consider that adequate. Sadly walls / ceiling were thin and when the upstairs occupants came in there was noise at 11.30 and again at 6.30am which was not what we wanted on a weekewnd away. As this was a birthday celebration I wouold have expected at least spacious accommodation. Otherwise it was an excellent hotel in a wonderful location.
Very small room for the xtra price we paid for superior type. breakfast cooked / served portions were tiny ie 1 item of each only ? why cant guessed serve themselves like other hotels Dining room tables far too close together. could not discuss anything over dinner for being overheard by next table occupants. ie not confidential / private , train your staff to seat groups of guests around the room . We felt uncomfortable and paid a considerable amount for it. Not good value.
Friendly, great locationn beautiful grounds, great value, lovely building and grounds. Pity I arrived late & left early in the morning. I would visit again for business & pleasure.
The duvet was a little thin for November.
A quiet and friendly hotel close to the countryside and town shops.
The hotel room needed another comfortable chair, only one chair supplied.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel itself was cosy and comfortable. The food was excellent.
We all agreed that there were not enough staff on duty at any one time. In the evenings at dinner we never once ate at the time we had booked the table for, because large parties were catered for before us. This made us late eating, as we were with my elderley parents this was not appreciated. We were leaving the table and retiring to our rooms, which was not what we had planned. Our double room was extremely small.
We really enjoyed the friendly service and lovely breakfast.
We found the bed was too small and not very comfortable
The only thing I was disappointed with was the size of the room. I had booked a superior room thinking it would be more spacious and luxurious than a standard room, however the room was quite small and basic. When I asked if it was a superior room I was told "yes it is because it has a view of the grounds". Apparently I was not the first person to ask this. Perhaps the wording should be a little less misleading. We did however, really enjoy our stay.
The hotel is in a very picturesque setting and ideal for exploring the locality. The room was pristine and very comfortable and the food was very good.
The hotel always has wedding parties on and perhaps needs to consider this role more carefully especially in relation to staffing. We waited an hour for a bar meal.
